People People! It’s been a LOONG time coming but my next issue is here! With tan-tan-tantalising information and more! So let’s get started…
You know we have to clear that word COVER
Cover:
Verb 1. Put something on top of or in front of (something) in order to protect or conceal it.
Noun
1. A thing which lies on, over, or around something, especially in order to protect or conceal it.
Right so we can both agree that it means to protect or conceal, conceal what exactly? Something precious and cherished, well who’s the precious in this case and who’s the cherished? YOU ARE FEMALES << I cannot stress how much of an importance you are to this world. Of course the Male is equally as important, however just like I’ve stated before “A Nation can rise no higher than its woman” so if the mind-set and physical condition of the female is not at a high standard, of how she perceives herself then all is lost and sadly what can we say we can pass down to our future. Ahrity let’s pull back on the emotional tip lol.
Most times when we think of being covered, or a female who covers herself, our thoughts automatically go to Muslims, Christians, Jews etc. and occasionally we think these women, especially Muslim women, are oppressed, with HAVING to cover up their beautiful adornments (breasts, legs, curves, bottom etc.) and looking rather dowdy and granny like when doing so. (AM I RIGHT...HAHA YES I SEE YOU NODDING :D). Well what if I was to tell you that is NOT the case AT ALL! Not only are the new generation of Muslimah’s changing the way we look at Modest Fashion BUT, they are also some of the most beautiful and academically accomplished women you could come across, striving to change the world. Now don’t get me wrong this issue is not just for Muslim Women, it is for all religious and non-religious alike, your faithful Fashion Silhouette is just getting you to open your mind and view things without a judgemental view.
We have seen in this world that dressing scantily clad and next to naked almost 80% of the time gets the female no respect and a pre-judgemental opinion of her. I read a popular saying somewhere “Dress How You Want To Be Addressed” it’s really as simple as that. And compared to the many males I have spoken to, as well as the interviews on my past blog titled MEN, MEN, MEN, they really do love a well put together female/lady that leaves SOMETHING to the imagination O-O.
OK STILL DON’T BELIEVE ME! {CRIES INSIDE} let us take a look at some quotes:
“ The less you reveal, the more people can wonder” ~ Emma Watson
“ Classy is when a woman has everything to flaunt, but chooses not to show it” ~ Hugo Chavez
“Dressing well is a form of Good Manners” ~ Tom Ford
“What attracts a man’s attention doesn’t always attract his RESPECT. What turns a man’s head doesn’t always turn his HEART.” ~ Ryan Gosling [added note] { In other words, don’t be surprised if he discards you after he’s done playing with the display}
“It’s easy to show skin. It takes bravery to show humility, vulnerability, compassion, heart, kindness, & self-respect” ~ Mandy Hale
“Your naked body should only belong to those who fall in love with your naked soul” ~ Charlie Chaplin
WOOP WOOP! Shout out to the MODEST QUOTES :D *Sings Wave your hands in the air, and shake them like you just don’t care* ok let me stop lol O_o but you get the gist right.
Another great example for my beautiful readers is the INFAMOUS VANITY FAIR 2015! This high class magazine recently announced The International Hall of Fame 2015 and it was none other than a beautiful Muslim Woman by the name of H.H. Sheikha Mozah Bint Nasser al-Missned of Qatar.
The article reads :
“It may seem like there is no higher fashion glory than entry onto the International Best-Dressed List, which has catalogued the world's most studied and polished dressers in the world since its 1940 inception. But those names that make regular appearances on the rarefied registry have a chance at its highest honour: the Hall of Fame. It's a distinction bestowed on only the best of the best, in the most elite company.
This year, the Hall's single, singular entry is H.H. Sheikha Mozah bint Nasser al-Missned of Qatar.”
Even in this Western World they had no choice but to pay homage to a woman who did not forsake her modest morals or faith but simply saw her Islam not as a religion per say BUT A Way of Life, which in turn causes her to wear her modesty as an extension of her character.
They could have chosen ANY female from Beyoncé, Rihanna, Kim Kardashian, Gwyneth Paltrow, Jennifer Lopez, Kelly Osborne, Giuliana Rancic and more! But they didn’t they only choose THE ELITE! This makes you ponder, what looks so chic and great to us is completely the opposite of what they want for their magazine and image. Hmmmm!
Even if you are not religious but simply spiritual or neither, consider, even for a little bit, how much of an impact YOU could make in this zombie ridden world, if the next time you went to your wardrobe you dressed for RESPECT and not for ATTENTION. Now don’t get me wrong I’m not preaching! HOWEVER please believe me the RESPECT will gain you the ATTENTION and the RIGHT ATTENTION at that (smile).

<> Why Is Modesty the best alternative for you?
<> What inspires your style?
I wouldn't say I'm the most stylish Muslimah. Most of the time I'm too lazy to dress. :-) but i would say I'm into comfortable but stylish maxi skirts and dresses. I'm also very inspired by different cultures. So sometimes I like to wear different cultural clothing i.e. African, Indian, Arabian, and Malaysian are some of the few. As long as I look decent, chic, and colors are on point I'm inspired.
<> Is it an extension of who you are? If yes why, if no why?
My style hasn't always been an extension of who I am but now as I pay closer attention to what I wear it slowly is. One's dressing code is very important and it plays a huge role on how people see you. Because of this I do my best to have my clothing style match the woman of God I'm striving to be.
<> Why is modesty the best alternative for you?
Modesty is the only option for me, it represents my way of life which is Islam. Allah has taught me that my body is a temple inside and out, I choose to adorn my body with clothes that cover me because the Lord of the Worlds prescribes me to. Only Him alone knows what is completely best for me. Not to judge anyone else who dresses otherwise, because trust me I was not always so covered up. It has been a process in getting to know myself and my journey with God, and also me looking at how I could make runway fashion embody the definition of 'Muslimah chic’.
<> What inspires your style?
I am a lover of classic timeless pieces, items of clothing that transcend the barriers of time. Trench coats, capes and leather jackets I have to say are my favourite classic trends of all time, they radiate elegance, grace with a degree of militant edge which I feel embodies who I am.
The Nation Of Islam has had a major impact on my style as a woman. The vision of Mother Clara Muhammad, Mother Khadijah Farrakhan and Mother Tynetta Muhammad had in creating their fashion lines have inspired me from when I was a young age. It always gave me such an extremely high standard of how to dress. Even the public of all demographics can’t help but to be in awe of the garments produced from the minds of such beautiful women shaped by God himself.
Another one of my inspirations is Sheikha Mozah. Her style is so dynamic. She has managed to get the major fashion houses such as Chanel and Valentino to ‘modify’ their clothing to suit her modesty, that is mind blowing if you really think about it. The many ways she wraps her hair has inspired me in so many ways, her style has taught me to never be afraid to branch out as a woman of God. Allah has created all the colours of the spectrum for us to dazzle the world with.
<> Is it an extension of who you are?
Fashion is definitely an extension of who I am. One of my longest aspirations of all time is to be a designer and inshallah that will be a reality soon, for as long as I can remember I have sketched my designs and envisioned it being worn by women, men and children universally. So yes I would say I am fashion and fashion is me, I say this because the things I am passionate about in life reflects the clothes I wear. Whether it’s wearing floral print because I adore the bloom of nature, or wearing wide leg trousers because they have a reputation of elegance. Fashion is something that we all embrace as human beings of the 21st century, because we all wear clothes which represent who we are or want to be.

<> Why is Modesty the best alternative for you?
In my eyes modesty is the only lifestyle I want to live by, to me it’s not an alternative, it’s my way of life. Modesty isn’t just limited to fashion, however when it is incorporated into fashion it gives it an air of class. I’ve been brought up to dress a certain way and to me there is nothing more appealing and eye catching than a woman who is covered from head to toe and looks absolutely flawless and effortless. Modest fashion is the lifestyle I love alhamdullilah.
<> What inspires your style?
A lot of things inspire my style, I grew up listening to a lot of rock music so I wore a lot of black, and I still do wear a lot of black (Haha) instead of shunning that side of me I embrace it and incorporate it into my style whenever possible. I’m also inspired by my sister in Islam Dina Tokio; I feel that she encompasses everything that I love about modest fashion, she is my biggest inspiration and keeps me thinking outside of the box.
My style is inspired by things and people that inspire me, for Eid I was inspired by Jidenna the rapper/singer, and the way the women dressed in the TV show Penny Dreadful. I am inspired by Hindu culture; and sometimes I wear a bindi. I love pieces of clothing and accessories so I’m inspired by hippie culture, mood stones, stone statement rings, crystal rings, Whatever I am drawn to I am inspired by and it usually translates through to my style.
<> Is it an extension of who you are? If yes why, if no why?
My style is definitely an extension of who I am, as I have set forth on this journey to discovering myself and who I am it has just become more and more solidified through my sense of style. I feel like because it is an extension of me my style is rarely ever the same, it may this one day and that the next. I feel like it is imperative to have that platform of self-expression through clothes, wear what you feel and don’t worry about if another person may think you’re too dressed up, to me using that platform to express yourself through clothes is the basis of loving your body and loving yourself.
In conclusion my dears, the next time we think about covering, let us not think of a negative perspective, but that of a positive, adventurous conquest that will make all those around you say “Yea I’m feeling your vibe”
“Nothing is cute enough to compensate for how modesty feels” Janet Clarkson
